Membership
How membership works
Membership in Requiza Cooperative Union is a standing agreement kept on a schedule. You save with your cluster every Saturday, the union records every entry the same day, and after twelve uninterrupted months your savings are returned with interest and you qualify for the dividend. This page sets out the whole of it — who can join, what the union asks, what you get, what your back office shows, and what membership does not do.
Who can join
Membership is open to any adult who will save on a schedule and keep to it. You do not need to live in a city, hold a salaried job, or have capital set aside before you start.
The union is building clusters in rural and urban settings across Africa, and a cluster is simply a group of members near you who meet every Saturday at 5:00pm to save together. What membership really asks for is reach and regularity: a cluster you can get to on Saturdays, a phone you can open your back office on, and the intention to keep the run of savings unbroken for a full year.
An ordinary share is ₦1,000, so ownership in the union's businesses does not start at a figure that shuts anybody out. The weekly savings amount is agreed with your cluster; the union has not published a minimum, and where it has not published a figure this site says so rather than inventing one.
Join if
- You can reach a cluster meeting most Saturdays at 5:00pm.
- You can leave your savings with the union for twelve months without touching them.
- You have an Android phone, or steady use of one, to open your back office.
- You have a phone number and an email address the cluster can reach you on.
- You want a share in businesses that take time to build, not a quick return.
Think again if
- You are likely to need this money back inside twelve months.
- You cannot commit to a fixed weekly savings habit — an interrupted run costs you the interest.
- You are looking for a guaranteed, government-protected place to keep money. This is not that.
- You are joining only to refer other people. The union's terms pay you for saving, not for recruiting.

What the union asks
Three things, and they are the same for everybody
Your back office shows these three fields at the top of your record. Each one is green when it is done and red when it is not, and the state is written in words as well as colour so nobody has to guess.
There is no hidden fourth condition and no tier above these. A member who has completed all three is a member in full standing, whether they save ₦1,000 a week or ₦20,000.
The third field is the one that carries real weight. Registration is done once and the phone is a tool, but active saving is a habit the union measures week by week, and it is the habit the interest and the dividend are attached to.
Member progress
- Registration completed Your details are with the union office and you have a membership number. Done
- You have an Android phone The back office runs in the phone's browser. Nothing to install. Done
- You will be an active saver Savings are captured online — daily, weekly or monthly — and must not be interrupted. Not yet
Registration completed
You register through the union office, or in person with the financial secretary at the cluster nearest you. The office takes your name, your phone number, your email address and the cluster you will save with, then issues your membership number and opens your back office.
Until this field is green you are a visitor at the meeting, not a member: your savings cannot be recorded against a membership number and no term of the union runs in your favour.
An Android phone
The union asks every member to have an Android phone because the whole record is online. Your savings, your shares, your loan status and your downlines are all in the back office, and the back office opens in the phone's browser — there is nothing to install and nothing to pay for.
If you do not own one yet, say so at registration. What the union cannot do is keep a member's record on paper only; the record has to be somewhere you can check it yourself.
An active saver
Savings are captured online — daily, weekly or monthly — and every entry is recorded against your name. The union's terms rest on the run being unbroken: twelve months of weekly, uninterrupted saving before savings may be withdrawn, and the same twelve months before a dividend is due to you.
This is the field members lose. If a hard week is coming, tell your financial secretary before the Saturday rather than after it.
From registration to your first dividend
Four points on one line. Nothing between them is a projection — each stage is a term the union has published, with the condition that earns it.
Register
Online, or with the financial secretary at the cluster nearest you. The office issues your membership number and opens your back office the same day.
Your first Saturday
Bring your first savings to the cluster meeting at 5:00pm. The financial secretary enters it against your name and you can see the entry in your back office.
After three months
Thirteen Saturdays of consistent savings. An active member may now request a loan from the union through their cluster.
After twelve months
Fifty-two uninterrupted Saturdays. Savings may be withdrawn with 30% interest at the end of your financial year, and you qualify for the dividend declared on 31 December.
Uninterrupted means uninterrupted
The twelve-month conditions on both the interest and the dividend are written the same way: active and uninterrupted saving. A break in the run is not a small matter of paperwork — it is the condition the rate hangs on. If you are unsure where your run stands, your back office shows it, and your financial secretary holds the same figures.
What you get
What membership gives you
Six things, and every one of them carries the condition it is earned under. A rate on its own is a promise; a rate with its condition is a term.
Your savings held and recorded
Every entry you make is written against your name by your cluster's financial secretary and captured online — daily, weekly or monthly. You do not have to take anyone's word for what you have saved: the running figure is in your back office, and you can check it against your own record after every meeting.
Share ownership
An ordinary share is ₦1,000. When the union opens a project the minimum subscription is 100 shares, which is ₦100,000. The cooperative funds 20% of each new quarterly stream of income and members subscribe the other 80%, so what the union builds is owned by the people who saved for it.
Loan eligibility
After three months of consistent savings an active member may request a loan from the union. The request is made through your cluster and goes to the office. Repayments are recorded against the loan, not against your savings, so borrowing does not quietly eat the run you have built.
Interest on savings
30% a year, paid at the end of your financial year, on savings that have run weekly and uninterrupted for twelve months. It is not paid monthly, it is not paid on a broken run, and it is not paid early. That is the whole of the condition.
Dividends
Dividends come from the cooperative's businesses and are distributed at the financial year end on 31 December. To qualify, your savings must have been active and uninterrupted for twelve months. A dividend depends on what the businesses actually earn — it is a share of a result, not a fixed rate.
The business school
Members can attend the Streams of Income Business School, which teaches the system the cooperative itself runs on: how to hold more than one income, how to read a business, and how to put savings to work. Find the school nearest you and attend.
| Term | Condition | Figure |
|---|---|---|
| Ordinary share | Subscribed through the union | ₦1,000 |
| Minimum subscription per project | 100 shares on any project the union opens | ₦100,000 |
| Members' equity in a new quarterly stream | The cooperative funds the remaining 20% | 80% |
| Interest on savings | Weekly and uninterrupted for 12 months; paid at your financial year end | 30% a year |
| Special Investment Package | A separate investment, not part of weekly savings | 15% quarterly |
| Loan eligibility | Three months of consistent savings, as an active member | 3 months |
| Dividend eligibility | Active and uninterrupted savings; declared at the year end on 31 December | 12 months |
| Savings lock before withdrawal | Weekly and uninterrupted from your first entry | 12 months |
What your back office shows
Every member gets a back office. It opens in the browser on your Android phone, and it is where your own record lives — not a summary somebody sends you, but the figures themselves.
A cooperative only works if a member can check it. So the back office is not a marketing screen: it is your savings position, your share position, your loan status, the cluster you belong to, the streams of income you have activated, your referral link, and the people who have joined under you. If a figure in it does not match what you handed over on Saturday, that is a question for your financial secretary the following week, and you have the record in your hand to ask it with.
The office and your cluster see the same figures you do. Nothing in the back office is a projection of what you might have; it is a statement of what has been entered.

Downlines, generation by generation
The union has a referral structure and there is no reason to dress it up. When you register, someone may have referred you; you then sit in their first generation. The people who register through your link are your first generation, the people who register through theirs are your second, and the back office lists them out that way.
For each downline it shows the streams of income they have activated, also arranged by generation, together with their phone numbers and email addresses.
What the structure is for
Follow-up. A savings run breaks quietly. Someone who missed two Saturdays rarely announces it — but the person who brought them in can see it and call them. That is why the contact details are there.
Targeted campaigns, challenges and tasks. When the union opens a new project or runs a challenge, it needs to reach the members it actually applies to rather than sending the same message to everybody. The generation view is how it picks them out.
Nothing more than that. The union's published terms attach the 30% to your own savings and the conditions on them. They say nothing about referrals changing what you are paid. If anybody tells you your downlines will earn you a return, ask them to show you where the terms say so.
The monthly update
Once a month, your back office asks you for one thing: the referral link for the next stream of income you are activating, entered so the union can confirm it. That confirmation is what turns the stream from “not yet” to “activated” on your record.
It is a small task and it is the only regular admin membership asks of you outside the Saturday meeting. It also keeps the union's list honest — a stream that nobody has confirmed is not counted as activated for anybody.

About your phone number and email address
Because the back office exists for follow-up, the member who referred you can see your phone number and email address, and you can see your own downlines' details in the same way. Use them for what they are for. The union has not yet published a written data protection policy — that is marked below as still to come, and it is a fair thing to ask the office about before you register.
Read this before you commit money
What membership does not do
Plenty of schemes in this region have taken people's savings and disappeared. You are right to be careful, and the union would rather you read the limits here than find them out later.
Three limits, stated plainly
It is not a bank deposit. Requiza Cooperative Union is a cooperative owned by its members, not a licensed bank. Money you save here is member capital put to work in the union's businesses. It does not sit in a vault waiting for you.
It is not government-insured. No deposit protection scheme stands behind your savings. The interest and the dividend are the union's own published terms, not a guarantee by any government or regulator. If the cooperative's businesses do badly, that is a real risk to your money, and no page on this site can remove it.
Your savings are locked for twelve months. Withdrawal comes after twelve months of weekly, uninterrupted saving. Do not put money here that you will need for rent, school fees or a hospital bill inside the year.
No fixed return on the dividend
The 30% interest on savings is a published term with a condition attached. The dividend is different: it comes out of what the cooperative's businesses earn in the year, and nobody can promise its size in advance. Anyone quoting you a dividend figure before the year ends is guessing.
No payment for recruiting
The referral structure exists for follow-up and for aiming campaigns, challenges and tasks at the right members. The union's terms pay you for saving and for the shares you hold — they do not state any payment for bringing in members.
No projections on this site
Every figure printed here is a term the union has published, restated exactly. There are no forecasts, no compounding calculators and no “expected returns”. If you cannot find the condition next to a number, do not accept the number.
Check us before you save
Ask the union office for anything below that is still marked as unpublished, and hold us to the answer. A cooperative that cannot tell you who it is registered as, and where it keeps its office, has not earned your Saturday money.
